RMF was established in 1979 under the name of Reactive Metal Fabricators (Anston) Ltd. In 1997, as the result of a management buyout, the company name was changed to RMF Engineering Limited.

From the head office and manufacturing facility in Dinnington, near Sheffield, close to the M1 motorway, RMF export equipment worldwide including Middle and Far East, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Russia. The company also has a comprehensive range of major clients in both the UK and overseas, for whom a complete service in the design and manufacture of specialist equipment is offered, specific to client's individual requirements.

In 2004 RMF successfully achieved accreditation to 180 9001 - 2000.
