RMF Relocate Admin Staff

Date: 26 Jun 2008

Further to the acquisition of RMF Engineering Ltd by Compass Holdings Group in 2007 and having extensively reviewed our Process Plant operations the Compass Group has decided to amalgamate the Sales, Contracts, Engineering, Purchasing and Accounts functions of both Portobello Fabrications Ltd and RMF engineering Ltd.

In the short term both companies will retain their individual legal status but with combined administration at the Portobello Fabrications offices at Holbrook, Sheffield.

With effect from 7th July 2008 RMF Engineering personnel including Sales, Contracts, Engineering and Procurement will operate from 3 Longacre Close, Holbrook, Sheffield. Later in the year we anticipate relocation of the RMF Engineering accounts department also to Portobello Fabrications’ offices.
It is our intention to maintain the manufacturing facility of RMF Engineering as a specialist / clean fabrication workshop and therefore we shall not be relocating these activities.

The new organisation will be under the stewardship of Graham Avill, currently Managing Director of Portobello Fabrications Ltd; Graham will therefore also take on the role of Managing Director at RMF Engineering Ltd.

We firmly believe that the amalgamation of the administration teams from both Portobello and RMF will strengthen the managerial and commercial structure of both companies and also enhance there abilities in providing quality products for the Process Industry.

Our Largest Success Story

At the heart of our company's success story is our ability to work with project management and design engineering departments of large companies.

Fluor Daniel awarded RMF a contract to design & fabricate a Titanium No.3 NACS pressure vessel, complete with supporting skirt, ladders and platforms for external access, process internals and a special lifting beam. This has resulted in one of the largest Titanium pressure vessels fabricated in the UK being built by RMF Engineering Ltd.

The 24 metre long vessel with a diameter of 4 metres had over 400 metres of Titanium welding in its construction, all of which was subjected to x-ray and penetrant testing. Fully assembled, the finished job weighed in at over 30,000 kilos when delivered to the Dupont nylon plant at Teesside.

A Fluor Daniel Project Procurement Manager, Cheryl Corker, is pleased with what has been achieved, she said:-

"RMF have done a thoroughly professional job with the work completed to time and within budget." She maintained that, "Liaison with our design engineering team in Texas and with the Fluor Daniel office in Manchester has worked well. Fluor Daniel would be willing to offer a reference for RMF Engineering to anyone in the process plant sector."
