Compass Holdings Ltd is pleased to announce that the amalgamation of Portobello Fabrications Ltd and RMF Engineering Ltd will be completed by the end of 2008. Both companies will then be combined as one with the new company operating from 1st January 2009. The merged company will be named: PORTOBELLO-RMF ENGINEERING LTD The new company will assume all existing liabilities, warranties and responsibilities. The amalgamation will result in a larger, diverse and more efficient company with the ability to operate across a broad range of Industries. We will maintain a positive and pro active approach to Quality Assurance with ISO9001-2000 accreditation already in place and the existing ASME U Stamp accreditation will continue at both factories and be renewed in early 2009. The companies head office at Holbrook will operate the Sales, Admin, Accounts, Engineering and project management functions. Our manufacturing facilities at Holbrook and Dinnington will continue to produce high quality fabrications and Quality Assurance systems in place at both locations will ensure high standards are maintained. We firmly believe that the amalgamation of the administration teams from both Portobello and RMF will strengthen the managerial and commercial structure of both companies, improve service levels and also enhance our abilities in providing quality products for the Process Industry. Further to the acquisition of RMF Engineering Ltd by Compass Holdings Group in 2007 and having extensively reviewed our Process Plant operations the Compass Group has decided to amalgamate the Sales, Contracts, Engineering, Purchasing and Accounts functions of both Portobello Fabrications Ltd and RMF engineering Ltd. In the short term both companies will retain their individual legal status but with combined administration at the Portobello Fabrications offices at Holbrook, Sheffield. With effect from 7th July 2008 RMF Engineering personnel including Sales, Contracts, Engineering and Procurement will operate from 3 Longacre Close, Holbrook, Sheffield. Later in the year we anticipate relocation of the RMF Engineering accounts department also to Portobello Fabrications’ offices. The new organisation will be under the stewardship of Graham Avill, currently Managing Director of Portobello Fabrications Ltd; Graham will therefore also take on the role of Managing Director at RMF Engineering Ltd. We firmly believe that the amalgamation of the administration teams from both Portobello and RMF will strengthen the managerial and commercial structure of both companies and also enhance there abilities in providing quality products for the Process Industry. Compass Holdings are pleased to announce the purchase of 100% of the share capitol of RMF Engineering Ltd. RMF has an internationally recognised reputation for the design and manufacture of pressure vessels heat exchangers and special fabrications in exotic materials and whose reputation has been built up over many years of successful trading with many international engineering houses and blue chip, multinational chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical companies. RMF will join the other fabrication companies, Compass Engineering Ltd. and Portobello Fabrications Ltd. within the Holding Company to form a robust and complimentary group of companies. The current management team at RMF will continue in role and RMF will remain as a stand-alone business, although strengthened by the new parent company. Compass Holdings Ltd. is a South Yorkshire based group of engineering and construction companies with a turnover in the region of £20-£25million and a strong balance sheet. RMF achieve ASME U Stamp accreditationDate: 13 Dec 2005 RMF are pleased to announce the successful accreditation by the ASME Review Board of the ASME U Stamp authorization for the manufacture of pressure vessels and Heat exchangers. RMF have for many years held accreditation to ISO 9001 and this along with accreditation to SQLO ( Safety Quality Licence For China) firmly places RMF at the top of the Quality ladder for exotic metal fabrications. Pressure Filters /DryersDate: 15 Feb 2005 RMF and GL Filtration have signed a joint venture agreement under which RMF will manufacture a range of pressure filters and dryers to designs generated by GL Filtration. To cement the relationship RMF and GL Filtration have put into production a high containment filter dryer pilot machine, model FD720. The filter will be built to both ASME U Stamp and PED rules and will be constructed in alloy C22. Equipment: Forced Circulation Heat Exchanger Size: 600 dia x 6000 long containing 212 tubes, 25.4o/d x 6000 long Materials - Shell: Hastelloy C22 Tubes: Zirconium 702 Tubeplate:904L clad with Zirconium Comments: Due to the severe service and requirement for enhanced corrosion properties RMF undertook post weld heat treatment of the tube end welds. It is believed that this is the first time such an operation has been under taken in Europe. The Heat treatment was first under taken on a test piece followed by full mechanical/ chemicals analysis. RMF can therefore claim to be one of the few fabrication companies in the world to have successfully completed PWHT on a Zirconium Heat Exchanger. The inlet header being a reducing lobster back requiring detailed engineering to develop the required configuration. Completed: October 2001 Case History 5 Equipment: Esterfier Size: 3350 dia x 5.0 m high Material - Shell: Alloy 400 Comment: The critical requirement on this vessel was for an exact fit on installation.
